What Are Alabama, Notre Dame, Miami's Odds to Make CFP? Latest Bracket Lines Revealed

No. 9 Alabama lost 28-7 to No. 3 Georgia in the SEC Championship Game on Saturday afternoon in Atlanta.

Here's a look at the latest DraftKings Sportsbook odds for inclusion in the CFP field immediately following that game.

James Madison's appearance in the CFP is solely dependent on whether Duke can upset Virginia. If that's the case, JMU should be headed to the tournament as the final team in the 12-squad field. The Dukes would qualify as the fifth-highest ranked conference champion.

The biggest question, at this juncture, is the identity of the final two CFP spots available at the No. 9 seed and No. 10 seed.

Based on the odds, it appears Notre Dame's spot in the CFP could be a lock. The Fighting Irish were holding onto No. 10 and just saw Alabama fall by three touchdowns to Georgia. The Crimson Tide now also have three losses (albeit with one extra game in hand courtesy of the conference championship). The odds imply that Notre Dame will be bumping up one to spot.

In reality, the biggest debate might be Alabama vs. Miami.

The Crimson Tide's biggest calling card is the quality of its best wins: at No. 3 Georgia in the regular season (24-21) and vs. No. 14 Vanderbilt (30-14). Alabama also went 10-2 in the regular season.

The biggest issue, of course, is a season-opening loss to a 5-7 Florida State team. A tough loss to Georgia in the SEC Championship Game doesn't help, but Alabama did play an extra game against a brutal opponent, something that its top CFP foes didn't have to confront. The Crimson Tide's other loss was to No. 8 Oklahoma (23-21).

Miami fans have a good gripe: The Hurricanes beat Notre Dame 27-24 to begin the season, and they both have the same record (10-2), so why shouldn't that be the deciding factor against the Fighting Irish?

It isn't, based on the committee's ranking. On the flip side, Miami's losses were tough to look past against a pair of 8-4 teams (Louisville and SMU) outside the Top 25 of the latest CFP ranking.

It's a tough spot for the committee, as all three can make great cases to be in the CFP. In the end, the invite will only be extended to two of three, and it appears Notre Dame and Alabama have the edge at the moment over Miami, which would be a tough out to be left home.
