Preview

The Big 10 Championship Game on Saturday evening will go a long way in determining which team sits in the No. 1 overall seed, with Ohio State and Indiana battling not just for a conference title but for the top spot.

No. 20 Tulane cashed its ticket to the playoffs with a 34-21 win in the American Conference Championship Game.

Notre Dame and Miami are two schools who will watch with great intent Saturday as they await their playoff fates.

Of the two, the Fighting Irish would appear to have the inside track, based on the team's two losses coming against ranked competition; however, one of those losses was against the Hurricanes in the season opener. Finally, their lack of quality wins against teams in the top 15 could be the difference-maker in their hunt for the playoffs.

Miami's two losses to unranked competition almost certainly has to do with their placement behind the team they beat to kick off the season.

Alabama could conceivably be out of the playoffs with a loss to Georgia in the SEC Championship game, where the Bulldogs' hopes and dreams of a national title will also be on the line.

The Crimson Tide lost to Florida State to kick off the season, the same Florida State team that Miami defeated by six.

Parity in college football outside of the top two has created a great deal of intrigue and interest in the playoff hunt this season. The schedule makers would have it no other way, making the bracket selection show a must-watch for fans and teams alike.
