Alabama's Kalen DeBoer Shuts Down PSU HC Rumors Ahead of SEC Title Game vs. Georgia
Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer responded to rumors linking him to Penn State's current vacancy at head coach.
"We're extremely happy here," DeBoer told reporters Thursday (h/t On3.com's Charlie Potter). "Love the challenge, love the grind, love this place. There's never been any link. There's never been any conversation. There's never been any interest either way. I'm glad we can put that to bed right now."
Bruce Feldman and Ralph D. Russo of The Athletic reported Monday that despite speculation surrounding DeBoer and the Nittany Lions' opening at head coach, he had "no interest in the Penn State job or leaving Tuscaloosa."
Penn State is still searching for a new full-time head coach after James Franklin was fired on Oct. 12.
DeBoer is in the midst of his second season patrolling the sidelines at Alabama after helping Washington make an appearance in the College Football Playoff National Championship Game during its 2023 campaign.
The Crimson Tide wrapped up a 9-4 finish in 2024 before taking a step forward in 2025, as they own a 10-2 record and are currently preparing to face Georgia in the SEC Championship Game.
Alabama would automatically qualify for the CFP with a win and could still secure a playoff spot as an at-large selection with a loss.
Meanwhile, Penn State sits at 6-6.
