Lane Kiffin Reacts to Eli Manning's Explanation for Not Wanting Ole Miss HC Job
It's hard to say whether Ole Miss would have offered Eli Manning its head coaching job, but if the Rebels did want their former quarterback, he wouldn't have taken the job.
Manning joked that his reasoning for not wanting the gig was that it would have required him to leave his couch. Ole Miss' former coach, Lane Kiffin, got a kick out of Manning's reasoning.
"I was thinking about it, but then they said I'd actually have to come to Oxford and coach from there," Manning said. "I said, 'No, I work from my couch.' If I can coach from my coach and call in, Zoom in on meetings, I can do it."

Manning would have been a flashy hire considering he was a star at Ole Miss before his NFL career, but he might not have been the person for the job, considering he doesn't have any other coaching experience.
Instead, Ole Miss hired from within, promoting defensive coordinator Pete Golding to head coach after Kiffin left for LSU.
Perhaps Manning will one day entering the coaching world, but for now, he'll stick to running ESPN's ManningCast alongside his brother, Peyton.
