Michigan Football Recruiting 2025, Sherrone Moore's Top Commits Landed and Predictions

Joe TanseyDec 3, 2025

Sherrone Moore and the Michigan Wolverines staff loaded up on the top defensive talent in the class of 2026.

Four of Michigan's five highest-rated recruits are defensive linemen, including No. 6 overall prospect Carter Meadows.

The lone exception to that trend was a running back who could help the Wolverines' power run game right away.

Michigan's Top Commits

Carter Meadows, EDGE, Gonzaga (Washington, DC)

Carter Meadows is the prized prospect of Michigan's class of 2026.

The EDGE rusher from the Washington, DC area is the top-rated player at his position, per 247Sports. He's also the sixth-overall prospect in the class of 2026.

Meadows is expected to be the anchor of Michigan's defensive line for years to come.

With so many defensive line commits in 2026, Meadows and his classmates have the potential to be strong contributors for at least the next three years.

Savion Hiter, RB, Louisa County (VA)

Savion Hiter is Michigan's prized prospect on the offensive side of the ball.

The running back from Virginia is the only player in Michigan's top five recruits on offense.

Hiter is the top-ranked running back and No. 18 overall prospect in the class of 2026.

Hiter could be an excellent backfield partner to quarterback Bryce Underwood for the next two years.

There's also a chance Hiter is part of one of the nation's top running back tandems in 2026 if Justice Haynes stays in Ann Arbor.

Julian Walker, EDGE, Dutch Fork HS (SC)

Julian Walker is verbally committed, but he has not yet confirmed his pledge to the Wolverines.

Walker, a four-star EDGE rusher, is also considering the South Carolina Gamecocks.

Walker's decision is scheduled for Thursday. Michigan is still the favorite to land the No. 85 overall prospect.

South Carolina is expected to make a final push to keep Walker in state, but Michigan should be in a good spot to turn the verbal commit to a signature to put together one of the top defensive line classes in the country.

Prediction: Walker commits to Michigan
