Alabama Football Recruiting 2025, Kalen DeBoer's Top Commits Landed and Predictions

Alabama saw a major change roughly two years ago, when Nick Saban announced his retirement and the Crimson Tide hired Kalen DeBoer to replace him. During the first year of DeBoer's tenure, it appeared that Alabama's run as a premier program might be over.

The Tide finished last season with a 9-4 record and missed the College Football Playoff (CFP).

However, DeBoer appears to have Alabama back on the upswing, which will undoubtedly help with recruiting during the next cycle. With the early signing period set to open on Wednesday, let's take a look at where Alabama's 2026 recruiting class stands.

Alabama RB Jam Miller

There have been points this season where it felt like Alabama was headed toward another disappointment. An opening-week loss to Florida State was a bad way to start the season. After the Tide climbed back up to No. 4 in the AP rankings, a mid-November loss to Oklahoma hurt their CFP chances considerably.

However, Alabama is right back in the mix following a 27-20 win in the Iron Bowl and a surprising Texas A&M loss against Texas. A&M's loss opened the door for Alabama to return to the SEC Championship Game.

The Crimson Tide will face the Georgia Bulldogs this Saturday in a game that could aid Alabama's recruiting.

Right now, Alabama has the nation's eighth-ranked recruiting class, according to ESPN. Unfortunately, there might not be many opportunities to add to that group during the early signing period.

Of ESPN's top 100 recruits, only two are currently uncommitted. One of them, offensive tackle Sam Utu, just decommitted from Alabama "amid late-cycle flip efforts from SMU" just this week, according to ESPN's Eli Lederman.

Could the Crimson Tide actually lose more recruits between now and the spring? It's certainly possible, especially with Lane Kiffin coming to coach the rival LSU Tigers. The speculation has certainly been out there.

For example, there was some buzz about 4-star cornerback Zyan Gibson decommitting over the weekend, though he later clarified that he plans to sign with Alabama on Wednesday.

The prediction here is that Alabama doesn't lose any more top commits before the end of the early signing period. In fact, we'll also predict that DeBoer manages to flip a couple of top recruits from other programs before the regular signing period opens in February.

We've already seen some significant flips ahead of the early signing period—quarterback Jared Curtis, ESPN's fifth-ranked recruit, just flipped from Georgia to Vanderbilt this week, according to Hayes Fawcett of Rivals. We'll undoubtedly see more before the spring.

DeBoer has a chance to show recruits that Alabama is back on a championship path by earning a CFP berth. A win over Georgia this weekend would certainly solidify that, and even a close loss would probably get Alabama into the dance.

Expect Alabama to steal another recruit or two and move up in the class rankings rather than fall out of the top 10.
