Rapper Toosii Commits to Syracuse CFB Team, What to Know About 25-Year-Old
Rapper Nau'Jour Grainger, better known as Toosii, announced his commitment to the Syracuse football team on Monday.
Granger had announced over the summer that he was training for the chance to play Division I college football, and now the 25-year-old has achieved his goal.
Granger rose to fame thanks to his 2023 double-platinum single "Favorite Song." Before his rap career, he played high school football at Rolesville High in Raleigh after moving to North Carolina as a teenager, per Hunter Shelton of Yahoo Sports. He was born in Syracuse.
Shelton noted that Granger's pursuit of a spot on a Division I roster drew the attention of Chicago safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson and former star NFL receiver and current Delaware State head coach DeSean Jackson.
Tori Apodaca of CBS News reported in September that Granger had received an offer from Sacramento State. He also took game-day visits to USC and Maryland.
Javon Edmonds of Syracuse.com reported that Granger took a recruiting visit to Syracuse earlier this year. He also had been working out at North Carolina State's facilities to get in football shape before making his commitment to the Orange.
Syracuse went 3-9 this season and ended the year with an eight-game losing streak. The Orange fell to Boston College 34-12 in Saturday's regular-season finale.
