Lane Kiffin Takes Photo With No. 2-Ranked Recruit Lamar Brown After LSU Contract

LSU commit Lamar Brown, a 5-star athlete and the No. 2 prospect in the Class of 2026 according to 247Sports' Composite Rankings, shared a photo with new Tigers head coach Lane Kiffin on Sunday after his hiring was made official.

LSU's pursuit of Kiffin since the firing of Brian Kelly was no secret in recent weeks, kicking up quite the soap opera in college sports. Kiffin said Sunday in a statement that he wanted to remain at Ole Miss and coach the team through this season's College Football Playoff, but athletic director Keith Carter wouldn't allow it once Kiffin agreed to take the LSU gig.

Kiffin further spoke on the situation with ESPN's Marty Smith:

"This was a very challenging, difficult day," Kiffin said. "We went through a lot last night with Keith Carter, trying to figure out a way to make this playoff run work and coach the team. And at the end of the day that's his decision, and I totally respect that. I understand that decision. I just totally wish the team the best of luck, wish that I was coaching but I understand that it was a very challenging position for him to be in and totally respect that. Really hope they play really well and go win the national championship."

LSU was certainly welcoming him with open arms on Sunday, top prospect included.
