The early shakeup in rivalry weekend was Texas A&M's 27-17 upset loss to Texas on Friday. The Aggies likely would've been in a position to compete for a top-four spot in the CFP bracket by earning a berth to the SEC Championship against Georgia, but Alabama will now face the Bulldogs in Atlanta for the chance at the conference title.
Ole Miss is in an interesting position after head coach Lane Kiffin announced on Sunday that he's leaving the program to accept the head coaching position at LSU. Kiffin won't coach the Rebels in the CFP, as defensive coordinator Pete Golding was officially promoted to head coach following his departure.
The ACC is facing a nightmare scenario of being left out of the CFP entirely, as a five-loss Duke team has the chance to win the conference championship. Virginia would improve to 11-2 if it is victorious against the Blue Devils, which could ease some concerns for the ACC.
Notre Dame is the odds-on favorite to earn an at-large bid, as the Fighting Irish have won 10 straight games since losing their first two matchups of the season against Miami and Texas A&M. The Hurricanes are also likely to be in consideration after defeating Pitt in Saturday's regular-season finale, but their losses to Louisville and SMU won't hold up well.
The decisions by the CFP committee are sure to cause a stir, so teams will undoubtedly be excited to solidify their positions when they take the field during championship week.
