Chad Johnson Offers to Join Lane Kiffin at LSU as WR Coach After HC Leaves Ole Miss
As Lane Kiffin begins the process of assembling his staff at LSU, he could have an NFL legend working with his players.
All-time great wide receiver Chad Johnson made his pitch to join Kiffin and the Tigers on social media on Sunday. Shortly after Kiffin revealed his decision to join LSU, Johnson said he'll move to Baton Rouge ASAP to become the team's wide receivers coach.
"Lane if you need a WR coach I can relocate tomorrow," he wrote.
Johnson, a three-time All-Pro receiver and six-time Pro Bowler, would be a flashy addition to Kiffin's staff, but he may not have the experience needed to join LSU since he has never coached before. Still, Kiffin could incorporate Johnson into the program in some way, as it could give the Tigers a boost in recruiting.
After several reports, Kiffin confirmed Sunday that he is leaving Ole Miss to become LSU's head coach. The Rebels finished 11-1—their best season in program history—and could be on the way to the College Football Playoff.
Kiffin won't get the chance to lead Ole Miss into the Playoff, but he'll look to get there with the Tigers next fall.
