Will Kyler Murray Play This Season? Latest Updates on Cardinals QB's Injury Timeline
Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray will not return from a foot injury this season, head coach Jonathan Gannon told reporters on Friday.
Murray's seventh NFL season has been marred by injuries. The former No. 1 overall pick started the first five games of the year, but suffered a foot injury in the Cardinals' Week 5 loss to the Tennessee Titans.

Murray missed the next three games and was placed on the injured reserve on Nov. 5, meaning he wouldn't be able to return to action until December, though it was reported at the time that he could be shelved for the remainder of the year.
"He is getting better," Gannon told reporters on Nov. 1. "He's had some more work this last week, but like I said, he's just not ready to go yet. But as far as, obviously, that position's a little bit different because you got to have a plan ready. That's why I'm just saying [Jacoby Brissett] is starting, but if [Murray] can have a role, he can have a role, but you take it one day at a time. But I know he wants to be out there and he is doing everything he can. It's just he's not quite there yet."
Murray's injury-riddled season has unfortunately followed a trend for his career. While he was healthy for the entire 2024 season, he missed nine games in 2023 while recovering from a torn ACL. He's dealt with a handful of other injuries in the past and has only had three seasons in which he played every game.
In Murray's absence, veteran Jacoby Brissett has performed well under center, despite the Cardinals' struggles. He'll look to help Arizona snap a four-game losing streak Sunday against the Los Angeles Rams.
