What's Kyler Murray's Timeline to Return? Latest Rumors on Cardinals QB's Injury Rehab

Scott PolacekNov 30, 2025

Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray reportedly might not come off injured reserve when he is eligible to do so.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported Sunday that Murray "is eligible to come off IR next week. He's still dealing with a mid-foot strain. My understanding is it's a little early, maybe, for Kyler Murray. Thought he'd be fully healthy by now, not quite yet."

Murray's health has been a storyline for much of the season for the Cardinals, and they placed him on injured reserve with the mid-foot sprain on Nov. 5. The move came after he missed three straight games during a stretch that also included Arizona's bye week.

Jacoby Brissett played fairly well during the three games before Murray was placed on injured reserve and threw for a combined 860 yards, six touchdowns and one interception while also scoring a rushing touchdown.

It reached a point that some questioned whether the Cardinals would be better off with Brissett under center instead of Murray.

There was a time when Murray was considered Arizona's surefire franchise quarterback after it selected him with the No. 1 overall pick of the 2019 NFL draft. He was the Offensive Rookie of the Year and a two-time Pro Bowler during his first three seasons.

However, he went 14-22 as a starter from 2022 through 2024 and was 2-3 with six touchdown passes to three interceptions in his first five games this year before the foot injury.

As long as he is sidelined, the Cardinals will likely continue to rely on Brissett under center.
