NFL Fans Question Kyler Murray as Cardinals' QB1 After Jacoby Brissett Keys MNF Win

Arizona Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon told reporters after Monday's win over the Dallas Cowboys that Kyler Murray is still the starting quarterback moving forward, but some might disagree with that notion.

Murray was sidelined for the third straight game because of a foot injury, and Jacoby Brissett led the team to a 27-17 victory in his absence. Brissett went 21-of-31 for 261 yards, two touchdowns and zero interceptions in his third straight solid performance.

He also combined to throw for 599 yards, four touchdowns and one interception in four-point losses to the Indianapolis Colts and Green Bay Packers in the previous two contests.

Given that as the backdrop and his apparent chemistry with Marvin Harrison Jr., who scored a touchdown Monday, some fans were left questioning the quarterback pecking order:

Murray wasn't exactly dominant prior to the injury with a 2-3 record as a starter as he completed 68.3 percent of his passes for 962 yards, six touchdowns and three interceptions. It was largely more of the same for someone who was 14-22 as a starter from 2022-24 after opening his career as a two-time Pro Bowler.

The starting job was destined to be a storyline if Brissett played well against the Cowboys, and he was in full control of the offense for the majority of the contest. He even scored a touchdown with his legs on a quarterback sneak.

He wasn't the only story for the Cardinals, though, as the defense played an excellent game while keeping Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens in check. The Cowboys didn't score a touchdown until the fourth quarter and continued to stall against Arizona with the game on the line.

The 3-5 Cardinals still have an uphill climb to get back into the playoff picture, but Brissett has looked more than capable of running the offense in Murray's absence.

And fans have started to notice.
