Where Will Oklahoma Land in CFB Playoff Bracket? Experts Predict After Win vs. LSU
No. 8 Oklahoma edged unranked LSU 17-13 at home on Saturday to secure a spot in the College Football Playoff, improving to 10-2.
USA Today's John Leuzzi and Austin Curtright projected that the Sooners will remain at No. 8 in the CFP rankings following their narrow victory.
The latest projection from Leuzzi and Curtright has the Sonners locked in at No. 8, which jibes with the general feeling of observers following Saturday's win.
Quarterback John Mateer threw for 318 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions while completing 23-of-38 passes in the victory.
Ohio State and LSU entered halftime tied 3-3 in a defensive battle. LSU pulled ahead 10-3 in the third before Oklahoma answered to tie things heading into the final frame.
The fourth quarter was a back-and-forth affair, with LSU adding a field goal to retake the lead before Mateer connected on a big touchdown pass to give Oklahoma a four-point advantage and secure the win.
Oklahoma's résumé includes a top-10 upset over No. 4 Alabama and victories against No. 15 Michigan and No. 22 Auburn. Their two losses came against then-unranked Texas and Ole Miss.
With no conference title game appearance looming, the Sooners will await the College Football Playoff selection show on Dec. 7 to see where they officially land in the 12-team bracket.
