Domantas Sabonis Reportedly 'Disappointed' With Kings' Direction, Usage Under Christie

Doric SamNov 26, 2025

The Sacramento Kings have been rumored to be on the verge of a rebuild amid their ongoing struggles, and star big man Domantas Sabonis reportedly isn't happy.

Sabonis was one of the driving forces that helped the Kings end their NBA-record 16-year playoff drought during the 2022-23 season, but the team has had a hard time finding success since then. It now sounds like his frustrations are starting to mount after Sacramento's 5-13 start to the season.

According to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype, league sources said that Sabonis "has been disappointed with Sacramento's downward trajectory since reaching the playoffs and his usage at times under coach Doug Christie."

Sabonis is currently sidelined with a partially torn meniscus in his left knee. In 11 games before getting injured, he averaged 17.2 points, 12.3 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.2 steals. He shot just 51.0 percent from the field and 20.0 percent from three-point range, some of the lowest marks of his career.

If their struggles continue this season, the Kings could be tearing down their roster before the Feb. 5 trade deadline. Sabonis could find himself in a new situation within the next few months, which could reignite his fire as one of the best centers in the NBA.

For now, Sacramento will try to earn its third win in a row when it faces the Phoenix Suns (11-7) on Wednesday night.
