What Is George Pickens Injury Status for Cowboys vs. Chiefs on Thanksgiving?
The Dallas Cowboys will have star wide receiver George Pickens in the lineup when they host the Kansas City Chiefs in their annual Thanksgiving Day game on Thursday.
Pickens was removed from the team's injury report and did not have a game status after practicing in full during Wednesday's session.
Pickens is coming off one of his best games as a Cowboy, catching nine passes for 146 yards and a touchdown in a 24-21, come-from-behind, upset win over the NFC East rival Philadelphia Eagles last weekend.
Dallas acquired Pickens in a trade this past offseason, sending a 2026 third-round pick and 2027 fifth-round pick to the Pittsburgh Steelers for the former University of Georgia standout and a 2027 sixth-round pick.
He has proved to be one of the best pickups of the offseason, as Pickens has already racked up 67 receptions for 1,054 yards and eight touchdowns through 11 games.
Pickens has set new, single-season career highs in catches and touchdowns already, and his yardage total is less than 100 yards off his career mark.
In fact, Pickens is second in the league in receiving yardage this season behind only Seattle Seahawks wideout Jaxon Smith-Njigba, who leads the way with 1,313 yards.
Along with CeeDee Lamb, Pickens has helped give the Cowboys arguably the best receiving tandem in the league, and quarterback Dak Prescott will need both of them to come up big in a high-stakes game on Thanksgiving.
Last week's win over the Eagles got Dallas back to .500 on the season with a 5-5-1 record, and they are currently chasing the 8-4 San Francisco 49ers for the seventh and final playoff spot in the NFC.
As for the Chiefs, they secured a crucial, comeback victory over the Indianapolis Colts last week, bringing their record to 6-5.
Despite having reached three consecutive Super Bowls, the Chiefs are currently 10th in the AFC, and they are one game behind the 7-4 Los Angeles Chargers, Jacksonville Jaguars and Buffalo Bills for a playoff spot.
Both the Cowboys and Chiefs desperately need wins on Thursday in order to improve their playoff hopes, and Dallas' chances of pulling off another upset are undoubtedly much better with Pickens in the lineup.
