Lane Kiffin is set to make an announcement about his future with Ole Miss next Saturday.

Kiffin will provide an update on his career plans after Ole Miss takes on Mississippi State in the Egg Bowl on Nov. 28, athletic director Keith Carter said Friday.

Carter said in the statement he and Kiffin had shared "many pointed and positive conversations regarding his future at Ole Miss."

He added he had most recently met Friday with Kiffin and Ole Miss chancellor Glenn Boyce.

The statement comes amid rumors that Kiffin is being considered as a candidate both to replace Billy Napier at Florida and Brian Kelly at LSU.

Rumors have gained traction amid multiple reports that Kiffin's family has recently visited both Florida and LSU.

The Athletic's Stewart Mandel reported Monday that Ole Miss had given Kiffin an "ultimatum" to make his decision by the Egg Bowl. Kiffin later denied the report.

ESPN's Mark Schlabach reported Tuesday that Carter had stopped short of an ultimatum but had "asked for Kiffin to reach a decision by this upcoming weekend."

Schlabach also reported that Ole Miss had told Kiffin "the Rebels would match any contract offer the Gators and Tigers might make."

Yahoo Sports' Ross Dellenger previously reported LSU is likely to offer Kiffin "at least" $13 million per year.

Kiffin is currently making $9 million per year on an a contract set to expire after the 2031 season, per USA Today.

Ole Miss is on a bye this week. The team is currently sitting at 10-1 on the season, including 6-1 in SEC play. A win against the team's rivals next weekend would take the Rebels one step closer to the program's inaugural College Football Playoff berth.

Whether or not that potential playoff run involves Kiffin could hinge on what the head coach announces after Ole Miss kicks off the Egg Bowl at Davis Wade Stadium next Friday noon ET.
