USC at Oregon Preview and Prediction
Will the USC offense show up in Eugene?
It will be the question that hangs over Saturday's match-up like a pregnant cloud. The Trojans' unit has been strong at times this season, but their best outings have come exclusively at the Coliseum.
That Saturday's game is on the road, against the third-best defense in the country, which may make it even more implausible for USC to escape with a victory and keep its playoff hopes alive.
That Oregon defense may be a bit deceiving, though, as it has not exactly played the best offenses in the game this year. Only the second-ranked Indiana presented a challenging offensive match-up for the Ducks and the Hoosiers hung 30 on the home team in that October 11 match-up.
Coincidentally, the last time Oregon appeared on College Gameday.
USC quarterback Jayden Maiava will have every opportunity to further establish his legacy for the away team and expose the Oregon defense, but a raucous home crowd, a stingy defense, and a home offense nearly as potent as the Trojans' may be too much for the No. 15 team in the country to overcome.
The visitors will keep it close and look better against the Oregon defense than most, but the Ducks surge late and win to stay at one loss and keep their playoff hopes alive.
Prediction: Oregon wins by 10
