Mavs' Jason Kidd Addresses Nico Harrison Firing, Talks End of 'Disrespectful' Chants
Dallas Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd discussed the team's decision to fire general manager Nico Harrison on Tuesday.
"The two things that we can control is our energy and effort," Kidd told reporters Wednesday. "A business decision was made. We gotta push forward. We believe that Riccardi and Fin can do a good job and will do a good job in their new role."

Kidd also reflected on fans chanting "Fire Nico" at Mavericks home games prior to his departure.
"With that chant when we're shooting free throws is very disrespectful," Kidd told reporters. "But understanding that they got their point across, the fans. But we have to move forward."
The Mavericks chose to part ways with Harrison after they opened the 2025-26 season with a record of 3-8, replacing him with Michael Finley and Matt Riccardi as the team's co-interim general managers.
Kidd's tenure in Dallas coincided with Harrison's, as they both started their respective roles in the organization ahead of the 2021-22 season.
Dallas made the playoffs in two of its first three years under Kidd, advancing to the NBA Finals in 2024.
The Mavericks eventually made the shocking decision to trade superstar Luka Dončić to the Los Angeles Lakers on Feb. 2, which sparked the chants from fans directed at Harrison.
As for Kidd, his future in Dallas appears to be secure after the team handed him a multi-year contract extension on Oct. 14.
The Mavericks will look to bounce back from their disappointing start to the year that has been impacted by injuries, as key frontcourt contributors including Anthony Davis, Daniel Gafford and Dereck Lively II have already missed multiple games due to injuries.
Dallas is also awaiting the eventual return of star point guard Kyrie Irving, who suffered a torn ACL on March 3.
The Mavericks will be attempting to get back on track against the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday, their first game following Harrison's dismissal. Tip-off is at 8:30 p.m. ET.
