When Could LeBron James Make Lakers Season Debut? Latest Rumors on Injury Rehab

Scott PolacekNov 13, 2025

Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James continues to take steps toward making his season debut as he rehabs from sciatica that has delayed the start of his 23rd NBA season.

According to ESPN's Dave McMenamin, James practiced with the Lakers' G League affiliate on Wednesday "and did not experience any residual effects" from the workout.

McMenamin added that one source who watched the practice described it as "intense." James was also reportedly a full participant in Thursday's practice.

The Lakers assigned LeBron to their G League affiliate on Wednesday so he could participate in five-on-five practices as he worked his way back.

While there still isn't a definitive timetable for return, it's a sign he's inching closer to making his way back on the court.

The future Hall of Famer is 40 years old and in his 23rd season in the league, so durability is going to be something of a question throughout the campaign.

But he still appeared in 70 games last season as an All-NBA Second Team selection who proved he can be one of the best players in the league even at this stage of his career.

The Lakers have started the season 8-4 following Wednesday's loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder.

They'll be back on the court Friday against the New Orleans Pelicans.
