
Bill Belichick, UNC Applauded by Fans For Keeping Slim Bowl Hopes Alive vs. Stanford
Bill Belichick and the North Carolina Tar Heels defeated the Stanford Cardinal 20-15 at home on Saturday to snag their second ACC win.
The win set them on a two-game win-streak after grabbing a 27-10 win over Syracuse last Friday, and improved the Tar Heels to 4-5 on the season in Belichick's first year at head coach.
Tar Heels quarterback Gio Lopez threw for 203 yards and two touchdowns while completing 18-of-25 passes, connecting with Davion Gause for one score and Jordan Shipp for another, along with 83 yards.

Stanford' s Elijah Brown finished with 268 yards and one touchdown and one interception while completing 27-of-39 passes as Stanford fell to 3-7.
With the win, Belichick and UNC kept their bowl game hopes alive, as fans applauded the Tar Heels' victory over Stanford.
Both teams had a quiet first half, each committing a fumble and entering the break tied 3–3 after a missed field goal by Stanford in the second quarter.
North Carolina opened the second half with a touchdown and forced a Stanford interception to take a 10–3 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
The Tar Heels turned it on in the final frame, adding 10 more points to secure a comfortable lead, though two late touchdowns from Stanford nearly sparked a comeback.
North Carolina will hit the road to face Wake Forest next Saturday, with kickoff scheduled for 4:30 p.m. ET in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
