CFB Playoff Picture, Standings and Bracket Predictions After Week 11 of 2025-26 Season

Joe TanseyNov 8, 2025

The ACC title race devolved into chaos on Saturday night.

The Virginia Cavaliers and Louisville Cardinals were both upset at home. Virginia fell to the Wake Forest Demon Deacons after quarterback Chandler Morris got hurt in the first half, while the California Golden Bears knocked off Louisville in overtime.

Prior to the ACC chaos, two almost upsets and a dominant performance in the Big 12 headlined Week 11 in college football.

The Texas Tech Red Raiders re-established themselves as the Big 12 favorite with a home win over the BYU Cougars.

The manner in which BYU lost will likely hurt its chances to make the College Football Playoff as an at-large team.

Over in the Big Ten, the Indiana Hoosiers and Oregon Ducks needed last-minute scores to fend off upset bids and remain inside the top 10.

Texas Tech Dominates BYU, Becomes Clear Favorite in Big 12

Texas Tech's 29-7 win over BYU provided some clarity within the Big 12.

The Red Raiders are now the clear favorite to win the Big 12's automatic berth, and depending on what happens in the Big Ten and SEC in the coming weeks, they could earn a top-six seed.

Texas Tech has two easy games remaining in conference play before it heads to the Big 12 Championship Game, where it will likely be the favorite.

BYU's 22-point loss was an equally as big story from a playoff perspective because the Cougars are going to fall multiple spots in Tuesday's CFB Playoff ranking.

BYU can earn a rematch with Texas Tech by winning its next three games. BYU faces the Cincinnati Bearcats, the other one-loss team in Big 12 play, on November 22 in Ohio.

A BYU win over Texas Tech in the Big 12 Championship Game feels like the only path for the conference to get two teams into the 12-team field now.

Indiana, Oregon Survive Road Scares

Oregon v Iowa

Two of the Big Ten's three potential playoff teams experienced road scares on Saturday.

The Indiana Hoosiers required a last-minute touchdown to beat the Penn State Nittany Lions, while the Oregon Ducks won a last-second field goal over the Iowa Hawkeyes.

A potential loss would have been more disastrous for Oregon, who is 8-1 but doesn't have a clear path to the Big Ten Championship Game unless Indiana or the Ohio State Buckeyes slip up.

Indiana has more wiggle room as the undefeated No. 2 team in the country, but a loss would've put its chances of earning a first-round bye in jeopardy.

Indiana's path to the Big Ten title game is easy, but Oregon is in danger of slipping up again.

Oregon finishes up its Big Ten regular-season slate against the USC Trojans and Washington Huskies. A loss in either of those games would put the Ducks squarely on the bubble with a single top-15 win over a Penn State team that wasn't as good as its preseason ranking indicated.

Virginia, Louisville Upset at Home

COLLEGE FOOTBALL: NOV 08 Cal at Louisville

Virginia and Louisville entered Week 11 in the top 15 of the CFB Playoff rankings partly because the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and Miami Hurricanes lost in Week 10.

The Cavaliers and Cardinals suffered the same fate on Saturday at home to send the ACC into more chaos.

Virginia is now one of four ACC teams with a 5-1 conference record. The Duke Blue Devils have a 4-1 league mark.

Louisville is now 4-2 in league play. The Cardinals suffered their other ACC defeat in overtime to Virginia.

Georgia Tech, who was ranked No. 17 on Tuesday, will likely be the top-ranked ACC team again in the updated rankings.

Miami won't be far behind Georgia Tech in the rankings, but the Hurricanes have a long way to go to reach the playoff since they have two conference losses.

The good news for the ACC is that the top of the standings will sort itself out in November. Virginia visits the Duke Blue Devils on November 15 and Georgia Tech plays the Pittsburgh Panthers on November 22.

Louisville can have a say in the ACC title race with a home win over the SMU Mustangs on November 22.

The most logical scenario is for the Virginia-Duke and Georgia Tech-Pitt winners to compete with SMU for spots in the ACC Championship Game, but as we've seen over the last few weeks, anything is possible in this year's conference of chaos.
