Lane Kiffin Takes Photo with Fans on Video After On-Field Proposal at Ole Miss Game
Ole Miss football head coach Lane Kiffin took a picture with a couple following an on-field proposal during a timeout amid the Rebels' resounding 49-0 victory over The Citadel on Saturday afternoon.
David Wasson of Saturday Down South provided insight behind the proposal itself.
"Former Ole Miss pole vaulter Drew O'Connor came out onto the Vaught-Hemingway Stadium turf at a timeout in the third quarter of the Rebels' game against The Citadel, ostensibly to kick a field goal as part of an on-field promotion. O'Connor's girlfriend, Madison Barnette, joined him to act as the holder for the field goal attempt, but instead of attempting the kick, O'Connor instead got down on one knee and proposed."
Barnette said yes, and Kiffin soon went out to the field to join in a picture.
As for the game, Ole Miss ran out to a 35-0 halftime lead en route to the seven-touchdown win. Quarterback Trinidad Chambliss completed 29-of-33 passes for 333 yards and three touchdowns for the No. 7 Rebels, who are 9-1 on the season.
Ole Miss closes the regular season with a home game against Florida next Saturday and the annual Egg Bowl matchup at rival Mississippi State on Nov. 28. The Rebels are also heavily favored to qualify for the College Football Playoff at this point, so they should be featured in some postseason action in December as well.
