Daily Fantasy Baseball 2015: Best MLB DFS DraftKings Lineup for July 22

Brian MaziqueJul 22, 2015

There's going to be a great deal of salary left on the board, but the most ideal MLB DraftKings lineup is not the most expensive one in Wednesday's afternoon games. Don't look for a long list of Grade-A starting pitchers. Middle-of-the-rotation guys will have to do, and the best selection of all is New York Mets rookie Noah Syndergaard.

He carries a price tag of $10,400, but he's been a dependable fantasy option in most of his starts. In his last four games, Syndergaard is averaging 27.6 fantasy points per contest. There's a 41-point performance in that span on July 10 against the Arizona Diamondbacks, so the ability to toss a gem is there.

He'll be facing the Washington Nationals, and Bryce Harper and Co. haven't exactly been consistent with the bats of late. The Nats are scoring just over three runs per game since the All-Star break, and Harper has just two hits in his last 13 at-bats. Syndergaard should anchor Wednesday afternoon's ideal squad.

Here's a look at the rest of the optimal lineup for the day games:

PNoah SyndergaardWashington$10,400
PJake OdorizziPhiladelphia$8,300
CKyle Schwarber Cincinnati$4,000
1BAdrian GonzalezAtlanta$4,600
2BDaniel MurphyWashington$3,100
3BJace PetersonLos Angeles Dodgers$3,400
SSJimmy Rollins Atlanta$2,800
OFYasiel PuigAtlanta$3,500
OFChris CoghlanCincinnati$3,100
OFJoc PedersonAtlanta$3,500

Adrian Gonzalez ($4,600) at Atlanta Braves

You'll notice, the lineup above has four Los Angeles Dodgers. Chief among them is first baseman Adrian Gonzalez. The Braves are sending Julio Teheran to the mound. He's faced Gonzalez nine times, and the latter has had the clear advantage.

Gonzalez has four hits in those at-bats, with one double and a home run. That's a relatively small sample size, but there's reason to believe Gonzalez's dominance against Teheran will continue.

Gonzalez is on a six-game hitting streak, and he's batting .458 in that stretch. Teheran has had issues against left-handed hitters all season. They are hitting .305 against him with a home run per every 27 at-bats.

Look for Gonzalez to go long and score big on Wednesday.

Joc Pederson ($3,500) at Atlanta Braves

Another lefty in the Dodgers lineup who should score well is Joc Pederson. He's in a bit of a power slump (last home run was on June 29), but this is a great chance for him to break out.

He's not going to stick on 20 home runs forever. Even if he doesn't go yard, he should at least be on base a few times. Pederson has taken 59 walks this season, which is sixth in the majors. Teheran is tied for ninth in bases on balls issued at 42.

Look for Pederson to play a role in the L.A. scoring.

Kyle Schwarber ($4,000) at Cincinnati Reds

The Chicago Cubs also have a favorable matchup against the Cincinnati Reds and pitcher Mike Leake. The North Siders have hit Leake pretty well this season, but in all honesty, rookie catcher Kyle Schwarber could probably hit Sandy Koufax right now.

He's blistering hot and coming off a 4-for-7, two-homer game on Tuesday night. He isn't showing any signs of slowing down. The Cubs and Reds play a doubleheader on Wednesday, and Schwarber isn't going to be behind the plate in both games. According to Mark Gonzales of the Chicago Tribune, Cubs manager Joe Maddon indicated Schwarber would catch three games in a row.

The third game in that sequence would be Game 1 of the doubleheader. Schwarber is hitting .410 this season, and he is 5-for-11 in the series thus far. He'll keep the stroke going for a third consecutive day.

Chris Coghlan ($3,100) at Cincinnati Reds

Perhaps the biggest bargain of the day is Chris Coghlan. Like Schwarber, Coghlan also homered on Tuesday night. Plus, Coghlan has absolutely owned Leake in his career. In 13 career at-bats, Coghlan is hitting .692 against Leake. Those totals include a three-hit performance for the Cubs left fielder on April 13.

Playing at the hitter-friendly Great American Ball Park should also increase Schwarber and Coghlan's chances to have a big day at the plate.
