No. 18 Oklahoma took down No. 14 Tennessee by the final score of 33-27 in Saturday night's SEC matchup.

After the Volunteers pulled to within two points late in the fourth quarter, the Sooners recovered an onside kick before quarterback John Mateer found the end zone on a 1-yard run that sealed the victory.

Mateer finished 19-of-29 for 159 yards and an interception, but still finished with 80 rush yards and a score on 16 attempts.

Fans were impressed with Mateer and Oklahoma.

Saturday's matchup was mostly a back-and-forth affair, as neither team held a two-score lead until the fourth quarter.

Tennessee found the end zone first and drove down into Oklahoma's territory on its ensuing drive, but Volunteers quarterback Joey Aguilar was sacked and fumbled the ball. It was then picked up by Oklahoma defensive lineman R Mason Thomas, who fought through contact and returned the ball for a touchdown.

While the Sooners could only record field goals on each of their three drives in the second quarter, they still held a 16-10 advantage at halftime due to a pair of turnovers and a missed field goal from the Volunteers.

Tennessee finally put together another touchdown drive to jump back in front during the third quarter, but Oklahoma responded with a four-yard touchdown run by Xavier Robinson to take the lead once more.

Another field goal gave the Sooners a 26-17 edge early in the fourth quarter and the Vols ultimately couldn't close the gap despite scoring a late touchdown following Mateer's interception.

Oklahoma won by capitalizing off Tennessee's three turnovers and leaning on its rushing attack, with Robinson leading the way.

He picked up a game-high 115 yards on just 16 carries, finding the end zone once.

Oklahoma moved to 3-2 in the SEC and 7-2 overall with the victory.
