Deion Sanders Ripped By CFB Fans as CU Loses to Arizona with Shedeur in Attendance

Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes are at risk of missing out on a bowl game this winter.

Colorado conceded a 52-17 defeat to Arizona during a Saturday night home game with former Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders in attendance.

The Buffaloes have now been outscored by a total of 105-24 during back-to-back blowouts by Utah and Arizona.

Colorado holds a 3-6 record and remains on track for a losing season just one year after a nine-win campaign and a bowl game.

Fans criticized Sanders for his struggle to keep the program competitive without his son under center or 2024 Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter playing both sides of the ball.

Shedeur Sanders made his return to Boulder after surprising his father with a visit during the Cleveland Browns' Week 9 bye.

The Fox Sports broadcast showed Sanders celebrating when the Buffaloes scored their first touchdown of the game on an Omarion Miller catch in the second quarter.

The Buffaloes didn't give Sanders much more to celebrate as the game went on.

Arizona quarterback Noah Fifita put the Colorado defense on their heels early by combining with running back Tre Spivey III for a 57-yard touchdown pass on the third play of the afternoon.

Colorado's first possession, in contrast, went three-and-out and ended with a delay of game penalty on the punt.

The Buffaloes' second drive ended even less successfully. Colorado quarterback Kaidon Salter overthrew a potential touchdown pass, then was strip-sacked in the red zone to set Arizona up for a one-play scoring drive.

The Buffaloes finally got on the board early in the second quarter, when Salter found Miller for a short touchdown pass.

But the Buffaloes defense was unable to find any answers for Arizona as the visiting Wildcats climbed out to a 38-7 lead by halftime.

The offense meanwhile continued to struggle with turnovers against Arizona as Salter threw three picks, including two on back-to-back drives.

Colorado will look to rebound when the program returns to action next Saturday with another Big 12 matchup at West Virginia.

The Buffaloes will then return home to play Arizona State on Nov. 22 before wrapping up the season with a Nov. 29 game at Kansas State. Colorado would need to win out in order to claim bowl game eligibility.
