Cincinnati at Utah Prediction
The Utah Utes have one of the best offenses in the sport, ranking 12th in the nation and averaging 476.9 yards per game. They rank second in the Big 12 in points per game with 38.9. They are a run-heavy unit, with Wayshawn Parker and his 503 yards and four touchdowns leading the way, but can grind out games on the ground.
Cincinnati, on the other hand, is a more balanced offensive team, led by quarterback Brendan Sorsby, who has thrown for 1,843 yards and 20 touchdowns. He has rushed for another seven scores.
Defensively, the home team has the advantage. Utah is second in the Big 12 in defense, allowing just 14.3 points per game. The Bearcats, on the other hand, feature a solid redzone defense but are more susceptible to scoring, allowing 19 points. Factor in the altitude at which the game will be played, and you have a unit that could wear down later in the game.
Sorsby will keep his team in the game with his ability to sling the ball but Utah's pass defense will prove problematic and, factoring in what will be a raucous home crowd and the high altitude, and you have a match-up that does not play into the away team's favor.
This is the first time these two teams have ever played each other in football and the historic encounter favors the Utes.
Prediction: Utah wins by double digits in the Big 12 showdown
