Deion Sanders Talks Lack of 'Patience' in Society amid Rash of CFB HC Firings

Timothy RappOct 28, 2025

Deion Sanders thinks it's "unfortunate" that a number of college football head coaches have lost their jobs already this season, most recently LSU's Brian Kelly, but he also understands the culture of impatience that has become the norm around the sport.

"It's no one patient in this world," Sanders told reporters when asked about the rash of firings (14:05 mark). "How do we exude patience when we could call up right now and get a pizza delivery right here? You could call and get a ride waiting outside for you. Everything is expeditious in this country. Everyone wants the quick fix, the quick things. You've got mail-order brides, right, you could get married right away. You could get a BBL. You could come in here flat and leave thick as a Snicker. So this is a different country that we live in, man. Ain't nobody got no patience no more. I understand that. I don't either. I don't have patience as well. I want things done right now, because I'm used to getting up there, putting in the work and you want the results from the work you put in. It don't oftentimes work like that."

Sanders would perhaps be appreciative of some patience this season himself. His Buffaloes went 9-4 last season, his second in Boulder, and were in the mix for a potential Big 12 title late in the year. With Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders now in the NFL, however, the Buffs are just 3-5 and will need to win three of their four remaining games just to become bowl eligible.

It's possible that Sanders and the Buffs will finish with his second losing season in three years otherwise. He's undoubtedly brought a lot of excitement and cultural relevance to Boulder, but consistent success has remained somewhat elusive.
