Mac McClung, Pacers Agree to Contract, 1st Multiyear Deal for 3x Dunk Contest Winner

Andrew PetersOct 27, 2025

Mac McClung has landed his first standard NBA contract.

Per ESPN's Shams Charania, the Indiana Pacers are signing the three-time Dunk Contest champion to a multiyear contract. McClung's last stint in the NBA was a pair of games with the Orlando Magic last season.

Charania noted that Indiana plans to waive center James Wiseman to make roster space for McClung, and McClung's deal is non-guaranteed. Wiseman, the former No. 2 overall pick, played just one game last season because of a torn Achilles.

McClung previously signed a deal with the Chicago Bulls earlier this month.

McClung spent two seasons at Georgetown and one at Texas Tech before going undrafted in the 2021 NBA draft. He started his NBA career with the Los Angeles Lakers, but appeared in just one game and spent most of the season in the G League.

Since 2021, McClung has bounced between a handful of squads while playing on two-way deals, but he's played just six NBA games in his career. He put together a strong season in the G League last year, averaging 25.7 points and 5.7 assists per game with the Magic's G League affiliate.

He also earned G League MVP honors for his 2023-24 season in which he averaged 25.7 points and 6.6 assists per game.

While McClung hasn't yet established himself in the NBA, he has become a notable name thanks to his success in the Dunk Contest. He won the event for the third consecutive season last year, making him the first three-peat champion in contest history.

Now McClung will look to prove he's more than just an impressive dunker while aiding a Pacers squad in need of an extra guard.
