Brian Kelly LSU Contract Buyout Eyed By CFB Fans After Blowout Loss vs. No. 3 TAMU
Brian Kelly and the No. 20 LSU Tigers were blown out by No. 3 Texas A&M, 49–25, at home in Baton Rouge on Saturday.
LSU head coach Kelly, in his fourth season with the Tigers, has a 34–14 record without a College Football Playoff appearance since his arrival.
Entering 2025 as the eighth-highest paid coach in college football with a $10,175,000 salary, Kelly now faces mounting pressure as LSU sits at 5–3 overall and 2–3 in SEC play, with the program on the hook for a $53.3 million buyout.
After the team's blowout loss to Texas A&M and their fallout from the College Football Playoff, fans are increasingly calling for a coaching change.
Despite a close first half, with LSU leading 18-14, Texas A&M blew the game open in the second half, scoring 28 points while limiting the Tigers to seven, cruising to a commanding victory.
Garrett Nussmeier threw for 168 yards and one touchdown, completing 22-of-35 passes and connecting with Trey'Dez Green for a touchdown. Harlem Berry also added a rushing touchdown and 59 yards on the ground.
Meanwhile, the Aggies remain undefeated at 8-0 as they continue climbing the College Football Playoff standings behind Marcel Reed, who threw for 202 yards and rushed for 108, totaling four touchdowns—two passing and two rushing.
LSU's schedule does not lighten up. The Tigers enter a bye week before hitting the road to face Alabama on Nov. 8, while Texas A&M will face Missouri on the road the same day.
