Tari Eason Reportedly Received $100M+ Contract Offer from Rockets amid Rumors
Though Tari Eason and the Houston Rockets didn't agree to a rookie extension before the start of the season, the Rockets reportedly came in with a strong offer.
ESPN's Brian Windhorst reported on The Hoop Collective that Houston offered Eason a deal with more than $100 million.
"From what I understand, they made Eason a strong offer," Windhorst said (19:20 mark). "It was in excess of $100 million. But I don't know how much of it would have been guaranteed, and they didn't do that deal."
Eason is coming off the best season of his career, putting up 12 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.7 steals per game while mostly coming off the bench.
Though he and the Rockets didn't reach an extension before the start of the season, there's still a good chance he'll be back in Houston next season. He'll be a restricted free agent in the offseason, which gives the Rockets a chance to match any offer sheet he receives.
Considering they were willing to give him more than $100 million this offseason, it wouldn't be surprising to see them make an effort to keep him around.
Of course, that depends on Eason putting together a strong fourth campaign this year.
