Pablo Torre Says Bill Belichick, Jordon Hudson Hot Mic Video is Similar to UNC Dynamic

Adam WellsOct 17, 2025

Amid the ongoing turmoil at North Carolina in Bill Belichick's first season as head coach, the dynamic within the facility is especially chaotic given Jordon Hudson's reported role.

On the latest episode of Pablo Torre Finds Out, Pablo Torre obtained a hot-mic video showing Hudson during a preshow meeting of the NFL Films show Coach from September 2024 hosted by Belichick, Michael Lombardi and Matt Patricia.

The video shows Hudson discussing graphics for the show, and talking about staffers behind their backs. Torre noted this "power dynamic" around Belichick is "not dissimilar from what it's like at Carolina right now."

This comes after Torre previously reported in the spring that Hudson was banned from North Carolina's facilities—the school denied that was the case. Torre noted in his new episode released on Friday that 12 different sources said Belichick listens to Hudson and Lombardi "above all else."

Torre's reporting noted it was Lombardi, who joined North Carolina as general manager after Belichick was hired in December 2024, who issued the ban to Hudson.

Even though Belichick has consistently downplayed Hudson's role within the football program, an April 15 report from The Athletic's Matt Baker obtained many emails from the legendary coach to North Carolina administrators to copy Hudson on certain online correspondence.

One example cited involved Hudson writing to the UNC media team to "raise awareness regarding a sometimes subtle, sometimes obvious, frequently occurring detail within media releases and social media posts" after Belichick hired his son, Steve, to be the Tar Heels defensive coordinator.

The new report from Torre with the hot-mic footage bears some similarities to Hudson's involvement in Belichick's interview on the April 27 episode of CBS Sunday Morning to promote his book when she stepped in after the topic of their relationship was brought up.

All of this combined with a 2-3 start to the season (0-3 against Power Four conference opponents) has led to rumors about Belichick's future.

There was speculation that North Carolina officials were considering an "exit strategy" for Belichick, prompting both he and athletic director Bubba Cunningham to release statements affirming their commitment to each other.

Belichick has denied there were any discussions with the school related to his contract buyout.

Coming off a bye last week, Belichick and the Tar Heels are back in action on Friday night when they take on California in Berkley at 10:30 p.m. ET.
