The latest edition of the Red River Rivalry didn't disappoint.

Arch Manning and Texas bounced back from their recent struggles, securing a surprising 23-6 win over No. 6 Oklahoma and quarterback John Mateer on Saturday.

Manning finished 21-of-27 for 166 yards and one touchdown without turning the ball over in the victory. He also rushed for 34 yards on four attempts.

Saturday's performance was encouraging from Manning, as he avoided mistakes through the air after getting picked off in four of his first five games this season.

As for Mateer, he wasn't able to take care of the ball.

He finished 20-of-38 for 202 yards without finding the end zone, tossing three interceptions. Mateer also picked up a mere five rush yards on 14 carries.

It's worth noting that the junior passer was making his first appearance since Sept. 20 after undergoing surgery on a broken bone in his throwing hand, but he told reporters after the game that it didn't affect his performance.

The Longhorns' defense was crucial in the win, limiting their opponent to 258 total yards. The Sooners also amassed just 48 rush yards on 30 attempts as a team.

Oklahoma was only able to convert six of its 17 third-down opportunities as well.

The Sooners fell to 5-1 with the loss, while Texas improved to 4-2.
