Michael Vick's Norfolk State Loses to Winless Wofford, Drops to 1-6 on Season
Michael Vick's Norfolk State Spartans fell to 1-6 on the season with a 31-14 road loss to the Wofford Terriers on Saturday.
The Spartans remain at the bottom of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference in FCS Division I-AA, while previously winless Wofford earned its first victory, improving to 1-5.
Norfolk quarterback Otto Kuhns completed 16-of-29 passes for 169 yards and two touchdowns and one interception, connecting with Kam'Ryn Thomas who added 112 yards and Elyjah Mitchell for scores. Running back X'Zavion Evans added 45 yards on 16 carries.

Coming into Saturday's game, the senior quarterback had accumulated 1,183 passing yards with six touchdowns and three interceptions, frequently finding his top target, Dresean Kendrick, who totaled 451 yards on 31 receptions with three touchdowns.
On the opening drive, Kuhns connected with Mitchell to give the Spartans a 7-0 lead, but the Terriers quickly responded to even the score. Kuhns also threw his only interception of the game in the first quarter.
A missed field goal by Norfolk State early in the second quarter proved costly, as Wofford scored later in the period to take a 14-7 lead into halftime.
Kuhns capitalized on a Wofford interception, connecting with Thomas to tie the game at 14 in the third quarter. However, Norfolk State's defense struggled to contain the Terriers, who scored again before the fourth quarter to take a one-touchdown lead.
A late field goal and touchdown in the fourth quarter, combined with keeping the Spartans off the scoreboard, sealed the story as the Terriers pulled away for a 31-14 victory.
Vick and the Spartans have struggled since the former NFL star's arrival at Norfolk, with just one win this season—a 34-31 home victory over Virginia State in Week 2. The team is now on a five-game losing streak.
Norfolk's struggles are not new, and Vick's arrival was not expected to magically turn around a program that has not had a winning season since finishing 6-5 in 2021. Since then, the Spartans have gone 2-9, 3-8, and 4-8.
Norfolk will use the upcoming bye week to regroup before facing conference rival South Carolina State (3-3) on Oct. 25, hoping to break its skid.
