FSU's Ethan Pritchard Leaves Hospital After Being Shot in Head, Enters Rehab Facility
Florida State linebacker Ethan Pritchard was released from the hospital on Thursday, according to ESPN's Andrea Adelson, after he was shot in the head on Aug. 31 while driving his aunt and a child home from a family party.
Per that report, Florida State said that the freshman linebacker is "alert, responsive and able to communicate" and is being taken from Tallahassee Memorial Hospital to Brooks Rehabilitation to continue the recovery process.
"We are thankful for the efforts, thoughts and prayers of so many people and ask that you continue to support Ethan and his family as this process continues," FSU said in a statement.
Police arrested four people in connection to the shooting, with authorities saying it was an instance of mistaken identity.
His father, Earl Pritchard, thanked head coach Mike Norvell and the team for continuing to check on his son and visit him in the hospital.
"His players and staff have continued to make us feel part of the team," he said. "I can't fully express how much those moments have meant to me and Ethan. ... Ethan has a long journey ahead of him, but I know he will continue to fight and he will do so with the full support of our FSU and Seminole County families and all who have been impacted by his story."
