Vanderbilt vs. Alabama Prediction

The away team enters riding a wave of momentum, just the second time in eight decades that Vanderbilt has tallied a win-loss record of 5-0. Quarterback Diego Pavia has been the conductor of a red-hot offense, hurling 13 touchdowns to just three interceptions and compiling 1,211 yards through the air.

The Commodores have scored in bunches in 2025 and in their last two games, hung 70 and 55 points on Georgia State and Utah State, respectively.

Neither of those schools are the Alabama Crimson Tide, though.

Since a season-opening loss to Florida State, 'Bama beat Louisiana-Monroe and Wisconsin by a combined score of 111-14. They scored their biggest and most important win of the young season a week ago, dealing Georgia their first loss, 24-21.

Quarterback Ty Simpson has been superb, throwing 11 touchdowns to zero interceptions. His efficiency and refusal to make the big mistake that costs his team is absolutely essential and could prove to be the difference in Saturday's game.

If not, it may be Pavia's bulletin board material.

The away quarterback told On3 (h/t AL.com), "I just focus on us, but I know we've got to bring it. That's for sure. The crowd, I think, is going to be a big factor in the game. But we just gotta play within the white lines. If we do that, if we play our game, it won't be close."

Teams have walked into Alabama before, confident of their abilities and certain they were going to be the ones to knock off the Tide. They did not fare well.

Even if former Crimson Tide head coach Saban told AL.com, "Obviously, Diego (Pavia) is a really good quarterback. They have a really good running back. This is actually a little better team, in my opinion, just watching them all away around than they had a year ago," there is an unproven track record to contend with.

Time will tell if that is the case in Week 6. Still, until Vanderbilt definitively beats the Crimson Tide and proves they belong in the conversation among the best teams in the nation, it is incredibly difficult to predict the upset.
