Deion Sanders Says Kaidon Salter 'Hit Another Switch' in Colorado's Win vs. Wyoming

Andrew PetersSep 23, 2025

After struggling in his first two games this season, Colorado quarterback Kaidon Salter finally figured things out in the Buffaloes' 37-20 win over Wyoming on Saturday.

Deion Sanders said he thinks Salter flipped a mental switch in the win.

"I think you just seen a kid hit another switch and say, 'I gotta get this together. I gotta play up to my ability,'" Sanders said in his press conference Tuesday (7:15 mark).

In Colorado's season-opening loss to the Georgia Tech, Salter threw for just 149 yards and a touchdown, adding 43 yards and a score on the ground. He struggled even more in Week 2, throwing for just 102 yards and collecting one touchdown in a win over Delaware.

He was benched halfway through that contest for Ryan Staub, who then earned the start the following week against Houston. After Staub threw two picks against the Cougars, Sanders pivoted back to Salter last week.

And it turned out to be a good decision, as Salter collected 304 passing yards and three touchdowns while picking up 86 yards and a touchdown on the ground in the win.

Now, Salter will get another test as the Buffaloes take on No. 25 BYU on Saturday.
