Schultz added that the New England Patriots called the Titans about Brownlee before he was traded to the Jets.

The 24-year-old started in each of the Titans' first two games of the 2025 season before missing Week 3 with an ankle injury.

Tennessee selected Brownlee with a fifth-round pick in the 2024 NFL draft, adding him with the No. 146 overall choice.

He opened his career as a depth piece before earning his first start in Week 4 as a rookie. Brownlee finished his inaugural season with the Titans by recording 75 tackles, nine passes defended, seven tackles for loss and one interception.

He racked up 17 tackles and one pass defended to open his 2025 campaign.

Penalties have been an issue for Brownlee throughout his budding NFL career, as he's been flagged 12 times in 19 career games (via Pro Football Reference). This included a trio of penalties during Tennessee's 20-12 loss to the Denver Broncos in Week 1.

One area that Brownlee particularly excels at is his ability to hinder the rushing offense of opposing teams. His 83.5 run defense grade from Pro Football Focus ranks No. 4 among all cornerbacks this season.

Brownlee should help a Jets squad that is giving up 133.0 yards on the ground per game in 2025, the 10th-worst mark in the NFL.

Meanwhile, Tennessee gained a higher 2026 draft pick as it looks to build around rookie quarterback Cam Ward moving forward.
