Texas' Arch Manning Expects to Play Better, 'I Know the Type of Player That I Am'
One of the major storylines early in the 2025 season has been the struggles of Texas quarterback Arch Manning, who many were expecting to be a Heisman Trophy contender and potentially the top overall pick in the 2026 NFL draft.
While those expectations were undoubtedly premature in hindsight, Manning himself has acknowledged he needs to play better.
"I know the type of player that I am," he told reporters Monday after finishing 11-of-25 for 114 yards with a touchdown and interception against UTEP on Saturday. "I know I'm going to play better and we're going to be better as an offense."
For the season, he's completing just 55.3 percent of his passes, has missed a number of throws and reads he's expected to hit on and has a modest touchdown-to interception ratio (six scores, three picks).
"It's frustrating because I know I'm better than that," he told reporters. "But you know, we're going to be better this week and get clicking on offense. I'm excited to get going."
