Plane Flies 'Fire Grier, Fire McDaniel' Banner Before Dolphins Game in Viral Photo
The Miami Dolphins may have turned in the ugliest performance of Week 1 of the 2025 NFL season with a 33-8 loss to the Indianapolis Colts, and at least some fans appear ready for significant changes ahead of Sunday's home opener against the New England Patriots.
A plane flying a banner advocating for the firing of general manager Chris Grier and head coach Mike McDaniel captured attention outside Hard Rock Stadium:

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
This is McDaniel's fourth season as the head coach of the Dolphins, and it wasn't that long ago things were trending in the right direction.
He led them to the playoffs in each of his first two seasons, including when he went 11-6 in 2023. It marked the team's first postseason appearance since the 2016 campaign and first time making the playoffs in back-to-back years since the 2000 and 2001 seasons.
However, Miami was eliminated in the Wild Card Round in each of McDaniel's first two years and then missed the playoffs in 2024.
There were also question marks about the general direction of the team coming into the 2025 campaign with wide receiver Tyreek Hill notably saying he wanted out after the 2024 season only to walk those comments back.
Yet any hope that a fast start would put some of those conversations to rest quickly ended with the ugly loss to the Colts. It was 30-0 in the fourth quarter before Miami even put points on the board, and McDaniel's club looked more like one that will compete for the No. 1 pick than a playoff spot.
As for Grier, he took over as the general manager of the Dolphins ahead of the 2016 season and is yet to build a roster that won a single playoff game.
The 75-74 overall record during that span is solid, but the fans surely want more than a team hovering around .500 with a Wild Card Round ceiling.
It seemed like starting with the Colts and Patriots offered the Dolphins an opportunity to get off to a 2-0 record and build some momentum. Instead, they are facing plenty of question marks and will look to prevent an 0-2 start with Sunday's contest.
