TAMU's Mike Elko Jokes About Throwing Chair on Sidelines vs. Notre Dame in Viral Video
It's a lot easier to have fun with in-game moments of frustration after a win than a loss, and Texas A&M head coach Mike Elko got to do just that following Saturday's 41-40 victory over Notre Dame.
"I don't know what happened to the chair, but it probably didn't survive would be my guess," he told reporters in a joking manner (3:52 mark) when discussing a chair he threw in the first quarter.

A video captured him picking up a chair and throwing it across the sidelines when he was yelling at players in the first quarter. The NBC broadcast also zoomed in on the chair, which didn't seem to be in ideal condition.
Elko's anger came after Notre Dame's seven-play, 75-yard touchdown drive to take a 14-7 lead in the first quarter. The drive included a personal foul on cornerback Dezz Ricks for shoving Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love after he was already out of bounds, a 43-yard completion from CJ Carr and a touchdown run from Jadarian Price.
Fortunately for the Aggies, those moments came in the first quarter and didn't prevent them from a stunning victory in the back-and-forth contest.
It seemed like Notre Dame was going to escape with a home win when Love scored a go-ahead touchdown in the final three minutes, but the Fighting Irish botched the ensuing extra-point attempt and remained ahead by just six.
That gave Texas A&M an opportunity to drive down the field for a win, and it used 13 plays and the vast majority of the remaining time to find the end zone and convert the go-ahead extra point. The winning score came on 4th-and-goal from the 11-yard line as quarterback Marcel Reed gave Nate Boerkircher a chance to make a play in single coverage.
The tight end came down with the contested catch, and the Aggies are now 3-0 heading into SEC play.
As for Notre Dame, it may need to win out to reach the College Football Playoff following an 0-2 start.
