Michigan Interim HC Says Bryce Underwood 'Might Actually Be Batman' After Win vs. CMU
Bryce Underwood had himself a day on Saturday, throwing for 235 yards, a touchdown and interception while rushing for 114 yards and two scores in Michigan's 63-3 win over Central Michigan.
The performance turned quite a few heads, including on the Wolverines' sideline.
"He might actually be Batman," interim head coach Biff Poggi said after the game. "We need to do a DNA test on him, because he could be Batman."
Batman is known for his stealth and ability to leave the scene undetected. Underwood has some impressive escapability of his own:
Batman has plenty of gadgets and technology at his disposal. Underwood has jaw-dropping tools himself:
And the Batarang has been known to clip foes with impressive accuracy. How's this for a dot from Underwood?
After Saturday's performance, Poggi—operating as the interim head coach while Sherrone Moore is suspended in the wake of Michigan's sign-stealing scandal—is ready to fully unleash his talented freshman quarterback.
"We thought at Oklahoma we would take air out of the ball because they're an air raid offense... we're not taking the air out of the ball ever again," he told reporters. "Not with [Underwood] taking the snaps."
There's a reason why Underwood was the top-ranked recruit in the Class of 2025, and a reason why Michigan has immediately handed the reins to a true freshman quarterback. Yes, Saturday's competition wasn't the stiffest, but there were a few plays that were impressive regardless of the opponent.
Against Oklahoma, Michigan played like they had Bruce Wayne under center. It sounds as though the Wolverines are finally ready to unshackle the Dark Knight.
