Pac-12 Trolls UCLA with Seinfeld Meme After Loss to New Mexico in Reported $1.2M Game
The Pac-12 Conference took a shot at former member UCLA early Saturday morning after the Bruins fell 35-10 at home to the New Mexico Lobos on Friday night.
In response to a post about UCLA's loss and difficult upcoming schedule, the official X account of the Pac-12 posted a GIF of Seinfeld star Jerry Seinfeld sarcastically saying, "That's a shame."

UCLA was part of the Pac-12--originally known as the Pac-8 and then Pac-10--from 1959 until a mass exodus from the conference occurred in 2023.
Oregon State and Washington State are the only Pac-12 members remaining, although starting in July 2026, the Pac-12 will be back to an eight-team conference in football with Boise State, Fresno State, Colorado State, San Diego State, Texas State and Utah State all joining.
While there was plenty of fanfare surrounding the Bruins entering the 2025 season after the arrival of Tennessee transfer quarterback Nico Iamaleava, they are off to a nightmarish start at 0-3 with losses to Utah, UNLV and New Mexico.
Brett McMurphy of On3.com reported that UCLA actually paid New Mexico $1.2 million to be an opponent, which is typically what a school does when it wants to schedule an "easy win."
There may not be any easy wins for the Bruins this season, though, as they are about to enter a Big Ten slate that includes currently ranked teams in Penn State, Indiana and Ohio State, as well as undefeated Michigan State, Maryland, Nebraska, Washington and USC.
In their first season under head coach Deshaun Foster in 2024, the Bruins went 5-7 and missed out on a bowl game for the first time since 2021.
Based on how this season has started, though, 5-7 would perhaps be considered a good result for a struggling UCLA program.
