Fran Brown Makes Syracuse Run Sprints on Field After OT Win vs. UConn in Viral Video

Syracuse head coach Fran Brown wasn't pleased with his team's performance despite securing a 27-20 overtime win over UConn on Saturday.

Brown had his entire team running sprints inside the JMA Wireless Dome immediately after the game.

"Guys not running to get lined up, guys not running to the ball," Brown said of his decision to make the team run. "I just want to celebrate the win with the people, but I'm so pissed. I'm mad as heck right now.

"I was taught through a lot of the coaches that coached me, you either coach it or allow it, so I feel that I'm allowing it. There's just some things that I gotta do. I just want to hold them to the standard of who they are. These guys are excellent men, they're going to be great fathers and husbands, and I want to make sure that I'm always holding them to that standard of who they are, and not allowing them to underachieve at anything."

The Orange trailed the Huskies 17-6 through three quarters of action before coming back to clinch the victory.

Syracuse stayed alive with a 53-yard touchdown pass from Steve Angeli to Justus Ross-Simmons with just under six minutes remaining in the fourth quarter and took a three-point lead after a rushing touchdown from Yasin Willis on the team's ensuing drive.

A 41-yard field goal from Huskies kicker Chris Freeman at the end of regulation sent the contest to overtime, though.

Another touchdown connection between Angeli and Ross-Simmons gave the Orange a lead in overtime and UConn couldn't find the end zone on its next possession, ending the game.

Brown likely took issue with Syracuse's slow start and inconsistency on offense, committing two turnovers and picking up just 44 rush yards on 29 attempts as a team. The Orange also converted a mere five of 15 opportunities on third down.

Brown is entering his second season at Syracuse following a stint as Georgia's defensive backs coach. His first year at the school was impressive, as the Orange finished with a 10-3 record and reached the 10-win threshold for the first time since 2018.

Syracuse opened its 2025 campaign with a 45-26 loss to No. 22 Tennessee on Aug. 30.

With the Orange coming dangerously close to falling into a 0-2 hole to begin the year, Brown wasn't interested in celebrating his team's eventual victory.
