Alabama's Ryan Williams Reportedly out vs. UL Monroe with Concussion Suffered vs. FSU
Alabama wide receiver Ryan Williams will miss Saturday's game against Louisiana-Monroe due to a concussion, according to multiple reports.
The sophomore was injured in the Crimson Tide's 31-17 upset at the hands of Florida State and remains in the concussion protocol.
Williams' absence will obviously affect the Alabama offense. Expectations for the 6'0" pass-catcher are through the roof after he had 48 receptions or 865 yards and eight touchdowns as a true freshman.
In the FSU game, he had 30 yards on five catches before exiting.
Should Alabama open 2025 with a second straight loss, its problems will go far beyond not having Williams available in the passing game.
The Tide are 34.5-point favorites at DraftKings Sportsbook. They have more than enough talent and depth to coast past the Warhawks without their best receiver. In terms of the aerial attack, this could be another good showcase for Germie Bernard, who had 146 yards against the Seminoles.
The bigger concern is whether Williams will be cleared by next week. Alabama hosts Wisconsin on Sept. 13, and the Badgers will pose a tougher challenge than Louisiana-Monroe.
A date with No. 4 Georgia follows that, but the Crimson Tide have a week off before traveling to Athens on Sept. 27. Williams will presumably get the green light to play well before that.
