Trae Young Revealed as College GameDay Guest Picker Ahead of Michigan vs. Oklahoma
College GameDay is turning to the hardwood for its first show of the post-Lee Corso era.
ESPN's weekly college football pregame show announced Thursday that Atlanta Hawks star and former Oklahoma guard Trae Young will be the guest picker ahead of Saturday's game between the Sooners and Michigan.
"We got that team from up north coming down here, and I'm not worried at all," Young said. "I'm ready to set the tone. I know Sooner fans are ready to set the tone. So we know what we've got to do. Boomer f--king Sooner."
While Week 2 of the college football season features a relatively light slate after a number of high-profile showdowns in Week 1, the game between the Wolverines and Sooners stands out.
Not only is it a matchup between two storied programs, it is also another inter-conference clash between the SEC and Big Ten. The SEC was considered the gold standard of college football for years, but the Big Ten has won the last two national championships and went 3-0 in head-to-head matchups in the last two College Football Playoffs.
The Big Ten also went 3-1 in non-CFP bowl games last season and maintained its head-to-head momentum to start the 2025 campaign when Ohio State defeated Texas in the biggest game of the Week 1 slate.
If Michigan, which is coming off a five-loss season, goes into Oklahoma and wins on the road, there won't be anything for the SEC to brag about without going back a handful of years into the history books.
Young will be on hand to make sure that doesn't happen to his alma mater.
The Hawks star played for the Sooners in 2017-18 and was a consensus All-American and the Big 12 Rookie of the Year in his one collegiate season. He averaged 27.4 points, 8.7 assists, 3.9 rebounds and 1.7 steals per game as an unstoppable individual force for an Oklahoma team that reached the NCAA tournament.
He will be back on campus Saturday and will surely pick Oklahoma to defeat Michigan.
