Michael Jordan, Lawrence Taylor, Jordon Hudson, More Attend Bill Belichick's UNC Debut
A star-studded crowd was in Chapel Hill on Monday night to watch Bill Belichick make his college football coaching debut against TCU.
NBA icon Michael Jordan and NFL legend Lawrence Taylor were spotted by the ESPN broadcast in the stands at Kenan Stadium ahead of the game.
Former UNC men's basketball head coach Roy Williams was also spotted in Jordan and Taylor's box.
Soccer icon Mia Hamm, New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone, Pro Football Hall of Famer Julius Peppers de were also in attendance, according to the broadcast.
Hudson was spotted on the sideline alongside Belichick ahead of the game, per Sports Illustrated's Pat Forde.
The Tar Heels went on to start out Belichick's debut with a touchdown on the opening drive.
Hudson was watching the opening drive alongside NFL legend Randy Moss, as seen on the ESPN broadcast and the 0:20 mark of the video below:
Belichick last coached a football game on Jan. 7, 2024, when the New England Patriots capped off the 2023 season with a loss to the New York Jets.
Four days later, Belichick and the Patriots announced that they had "mutually agreed" to part ways after 24 seasons and six Super Bowl wins.
Belichick worked multiple jobs in NFL media during the 2024 season, then signed a contract with UNC in January.
The news of the former NFL legend coming to college football was enough to bring former North Carolina legends back to Chapel Hill.
UNC students meanwhile had to enter a lottery to receive tickets to the game, with remaining seats being distributed through a standby line that opened an hour and a half before kickoff, per 247Sports' Noah Weiskopf.
Belichick will now hope to live up to the hype by helping his new program recover from last season's losing record with a Week 1 victory.
