No. 9 LSU Upsets Cade Klubnik, No. 4 Clemson as Garrett Nussmeier Draws Heisman Buzz
Joe TanseyAug 30, 2025
Garrett Nussmeier led the No. 9 LSU Tigers to a 17-10 road win over the No. 4 Clemson Tigers on Saturday night.
Nussmeier completed 28 of his 38 passes, threw for 230 and naturally drew plenty of praise.
Nussmeier won the game for LSU with an eight-yard touchdown pass to Trey'Dez Green.
Nussmeier's counterpart, Cade Klubnik, only completed 50 percent of his passes. The Clemson quarterback had 230 passing yards, no touchdowns and an interception.
LSU's win is just the first of what could be many top-25 victories. The Tigers can't rest easy because they face the No. 15 Florida Gators in two weeks. Clemson doesn't have a shot at another top 25 opponent until October 18.
