Alabama's Ryan Williams Exits with Concussion After Big Hit from FSU DB

Alabama star wideout Ryan Williams left Saturday's 31-17 loss to Florida State after suffering a concussion, head coach Kalen DeBoer told reporters.

Williams collided with two Florida State defenders after failing to reel in a catch. It was initially flagged for targeting, but the penalty was overturned upon video review.

Williams had five catches for 30 yards when he was removed from the contest, alongside several drops. Alabama—the No. 8 team in the country in the Associated Press' preseason poll—was ultimately upset by Florida State, 31-17.

The Seminoles dominated in the trenches, rushing for 230 yards and four scores while holding Alabama to 74 yards on the ground.

As for Williams, the sophomore wideout was an AP Preseason first-team All-America selection alongside Ohio State's Jeremiah Smith and Arizona State's Jordyn Tyson. He was one of two Crimson Tide players on the first team, joining offensive tackle Kadyn Proctor.

Williams flashed major potential as a true freshman last season, registering 48 catches for 865 yards and eight touchdowns. His performance against Georgia last September remains the stuff of legend, as he caught six passes for 177 yards and a touchdown, including what ultimately was an incredible game-winner.

Williams' upside is immense, but his 2025 season got off to a difficult start.
