LSU Football Players Wear '1-0' Shirts in Photos Before Season Opener vs. Clemson
No. 9 LSU is focused on getting off to a strong start to the 2025 college football season.
Several players on the Tigers warmed up wearing shirts with a "1-0" message on the back ahead of the team's matchup with No. 4 Clemson on Saturday.
LSU owns a 29-11 record since 2022, but the school hasn't won a season opener during that span.
Tigers quarterback Garrett Nussmeier previously explained that being 1-0 is more than just starting off the season with a win, though.
"It's become our motto and our mindset every single day," Nussmeier said, per ESPN's David Hale. "Being 1-0 in everything you do, whether it's taking your supplements or being on time to tutoring or whatever it is. It's been a huge change for us. It's a reminder of, if you don't want to do the little things right, I bet they will."
LSU will need to stay sharp in all three phases of the game against a Clemson squad that is coming off an ACC title as well as a College Football Playoff appearance last season.
Expectations are also high for head coach Brian Kelly's squad. Nussmeier is back under center for his fifth year at the school and will look to spread the ball to a receiving corps that includes Chris Hilton, Barion Brown, Nic Anderson and Aaron Anderson.
Despite the Tigers' success under Kelly, they haven't made a CFP appearance since their national championship victory during the 2019 season, partially due to slow starts that have put them in a position where they need to immediately climb up the SEC standings.
Kickoff between Clemson and LSU on Saturday is set for 7:30 p.m. ET.
